One of my first memories of being in New York was going to Yaffa Cafe on St.Marks while I lived in the Parsons dorms. It's long closed now, but had been a long time New York staple. Kitschy patent leather booths, Leopard print wallpaper sat alongside a clashing fleur-de-lis print on the next wall over. Crossing from one section of the other through beaded curtains I thought to myself, "I'm definitely not in Miami anymore this in NEW YORK CITY!!"
